Although the plans don't call for them, we seem to have two swimming pools in the basement. Well, what do you expect? We are digging below the water table...

The basement is almost completely excavated now. You can see that we have some minor water to deal with.

The last step for the excavator is to build a ramp so they can move machinery into and out of the pit.

Note the green colored Baker tank, just barely visible on the right edge of the third picture. It holds the water that's been pumped out of the ground and lets the sediment settle, so clean water can be pumped out and into the gutter.

The sump pumps have been going for some time now.

On Wednesday, June 7, 2006, Ferma started drilling the holes for the shoring. You can see the shoring back by the fence. The basement excavation started two days ago and most of it has been completed. Ferma should be done with the excavation on Monday. They have already moved over 50 truckloads of dirt!
